HEADMASTER RESIDENCE / THE PRINCIPIA
Saint Louis, Mo
AIA Design Excellence Award

Here it was important to COMPLETE the landscape:
At the horizon line, when vision congregates the topography (undulating) with the sky (vast, spreading) a wing appears (angel, butterfly, or shadow?).

This giant bird made of copper is either resting on a retaining wall, or ready to take off. The momentary tension that which hosts both arrival and departure intends to intensify the spectacle of the land, now appropriated by architecture.
